For many, the word &#8220;entrepreneur&#8221; is associated with images of people in suits, venture capital, and company balance sheets. This has little to do with the true meaning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">An entrepreneur is someone who undertakes something. Someone who takes on a task. Someone who sees a problem and develops a solution for it. That is the core competence. Not education, not capital, not a network. But first and foremost: the willingness to take responsibility for a problem and actively seek a solution.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"border-border-200 border-t-0.5 my-3 mx-1.5\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"text-text-100 mt-3 -mb-1 text-[1.125rem] font-bold\">The bridge example: Problem-solving as the core of entrepreneurship<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Imagine a small village divided in two by a stream. Every spring, when the snow melts in the mountains, this stream turns into a raging river 30 to 40 metres wide. For a quarter of the year, people on the western side are cut off from the church, the market, and neighbours on the other side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">That is a problem. A real bottleneck. And this is precisely the starting point of all entrepreneurial thinking.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">An entrepreneur observes the context: they see the forest, recognise the available wood, understand the needs of people on both sides \u2013 and develop a solution. In this case: a bridge. They could also build a ferry, provide a boat, or dig a tunnel. There are always at least four solutions. The decision as to which is best depends on the resources available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">And this entrepreneur \u2013 the bridge builder \u2013 could even charge a toll for using the bridge. A child wants a drink \u2013 and ensures that someone comes to solve the problem. It wants the biscuit tin from the cupboard \u2013 and develops creative ways to reach it: stacking chairs, using sticks, combining tools.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">This is no small matter. This is entrepreneurial thinking in its purest form. Identifying problems, analysing resources, developing creative solutions, implementation. All present, without a business plan and without an MBA.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">A child&#8217;s brain initially has the maximum potential. What is not nurtured in the first years of life diminishes. The first five years are crucial for the basic structure on which everything else is built.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">And then comes school.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"border-border-200 border-t-0.5 my-3 mx-1.5\"\/>\n<h3 class=\"text-text-100 mt-3 -mb-1 text-[1.125rem] font-bold\">How school, upbringing and environment erode entrepreneurial thinking<\/h3>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Vera F. Birkenbihl described it, and research confirms it: The school system as we know it is not designed to strengthen problem-solving skills. It is designed to train conformity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Curricula, rules, predetermined answers to predetermined questions. What is right and what is wrong. How one should behave. All of this has its place \u2013 but it comes at a price. Creativity is not developed, it is reduced. Parents, teachers, acquaintances who say: You can&#8217;t do that. You won&#8217;t manage that. You are too young, too old, too inexperienced, too willing to take risks, too different. And the longer you hear them \u2013 and believe them \u2013 the deeper they become entrenched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">Those who start a business in their mid-20s fight against some of these anchors. Recognising that the doubts holding you back are not your own. They were given to you \u2013 by people who themselves have not taken the path you wish to take.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">My recommendation is clear: Distrust anyone who tells you what you cannot do \u2013 if that person does not themselves lead a life shaped by creativity, initiative, and entrepreneurial success. That may sound harsh. But it is one of the most effective filters you can apply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The second step is your environment. You need people around you who think more freely than you do at present. Who look for solutions instead of managing problems. Who take responsibility instead of waiting for others. This environment changes what you believe is possible \u2013 faster than any book or seminar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The third step is practice. Entrepreneurial thinking is not learned through theory. You learn it by starting. Solving small problems. Testing initial ideas. Approaching your first customers. In your family. In your city. Or in a market you know. Entrepreneurial thinking is not a question of industry or capital.
