It expresses a certain uncertainty and indecisiveness. For founders, this is problematic, as they have to deal with challenges and difficulties. If they assume from the outset that they might fail, it is unlikely that they will achieve their goal.

The word “try” can also lead to not committing fully to your goals. If you only “try” to achieve something, you are not as motivated and committed as if you are determined to achieve it.

Alternatives to the word “try”

There are some alternatives to the word “try” that are more suitable for founders. These include:

I will: This formulation is more binding and shows that you are determined to achieve the goal.

I can: This formulation expresses self-confidence and optimism.

I want to: This formulation shows that you are committed to the goal and want to achieve it.

Tips for Founders

Pay attention to how often you use the word “try” in your daily life.

When you use the word “try”, consider whether you can replace it with one of the alternatives above.

Work on your self-discipline and self-confidence.

Conclusion

Founders should remove the word “try” from their vocabulary and instead use one of the alternatives above.
